Review: Divergent

Divergent by Veronica Roth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book- so much so that I read it first in four days and immediately re-read it in two. Tris is a good heroine, brave and selfless simultaneously and she is a great center for the novel. Also her relationship with Four was well developed as well as sweet. They could be brave together but also she could take care of herself which is what we want and need in a young adult heroine. Being from Chicago, it was great to place the setting in terms of streets and landmarks I walk by everyday. Young adult novels are becoming more popular and better than I have ever seen them. Definitely recommend this over the Twilight series because the main character is strong, self sufficient, and less of a Mary Sue. Also the writing is much better in this one. Highest regards to Ms. Roth.
